Random acts of kindness.

April 15th 2008 by D in Random Acts of Kindness

Been a while since I’ve posted one of these.

I recently donated money to the local food bank. They needed some cash for some new trucks for their distribution efforts. I decided that this was a cause I could go for, because its never good to see anyone go hungry.

I’ve also been appointed to the benevolence committee at my church, so we hand out food on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from our pantry. Its been great. You meet so many people with so many stories.

I urge you to volunteer your time to help those in need. Whether they be hungry, ill, or lazy. If they need help, they need help. Make a difference, it doesn’t always take a ton of money to help change someone else’s life!

Thank you for this recent RAOK.

At one time I had to stand in line at the pantries to get food for our family. I am so grateful for people like you that made a difference in our lives.

I used to work for a church with a food bank. I got in trouble for giving two bags of food to a pregnant couple, who were seen pan-handling, at the freeway.

I didn’t make my decision lightly. I made 6 bucks an hour and replaced all the food I gave away. I never saw them again. I don’t fall for “stories”, I asked them if they needed help. I told them about jobs, gave them some food, wished them well and never saw them ask for a dime, afterwards.
